Documentation fix: setup the startup external program for everyone

Jan 7, 2011 at 3:44 PM
Reading the doc on contributing, just found this (http://nuget.codeplex.com/documentation?title=Development):

To debug the console and UI during development, following these steps:

  1. Open the Properties page of the NuGet.Tools project.
  2. Click on Debug tab.
  3. Choose 'Start external program' option. Type in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe' into the textbox.
  4. In the command line arguments textbox below, type: '/rootsuffix Exp' (without the quotes).
    • Make sure that the NuGet Extension is UNINSTALLED from your primary instance of VS so your newly compiled one can load into the experimental instance.
  5. Now you can debug normally with F5. It will open a separate instance of VS (called the Experimental instance). What you do in this instance don't affect the main VS instance.
(btw, NuGet.Tools project is now VsExtension)

That entire section can be removed if the project itself has that configuration already, as explained in http://kzu.to/fethcl

Just did it on a fork (https://hg01.codeplex.com/forks/dcazzulino/kzustartupdebugging), and sent a pull request.

Cheers!

Thanks! As soon as we accept this pull request, please remind me to remove that section.
