Help me FAQ it up...

Sep 19, 2010 at 12:51 AM

The FAQ is looking a little thin today. So far, there's just one question. Can you help me think of a list of questions that you've had or that you think others will have and I'll answer them in the FAQ? I'll try scouring the discussion board for questions too, but wanted to use this thread to group ideas. Thanks!

The console has problem loading when the Reflector add-in is loaded.

The reflector issue would go in the Known Issues page rather than the FAQ.  It is in fact the top 'known issue' we want people to know about.

Another thing to add to the FAQ is what OSes are supported. The OS must have PowerShell 2.0 installed.

Ah, good point. In fact, we should list all the system requirements:

IDE: Visual Studio 2010, Visual Web Developer 2010 (hopefully! Once we resolve some issues.)

OS: Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows 2008

Anything else?

Realistically, we won't have VWD working by Tuesday.  We should make that a known issue, and hopefully we'll have it working in another week or two.

I’ll make a note of that. Was my description of the Reflector Add-In known issue correct?

Sep 19, 2010 at 7:19 PM

If you don’t have PowerShell, can you still use the Add Package Referenc dialog?

Reflector issue description looks fine.  INcluding the full error as you did is the key part to make it searchable.

Visual Studio 2010 sdk - for building

"Be passionate in all you do"

Sep 19, 2010 at 9:21 PM

Isn't that part of the "contributing" section?

Sep 19, 2010 at 10:04 PM

Yes it is. I think the FAQ should focus on end-users. The contributing section has all the details for developers who want to hack on NuPack.

Agreed, the FAQ & Issues lists should target only the end user, not the Nupack dev.  Obviously, that means that we'll need to have a built vsix available as a 'download', but that was the plan all along.  We'll likely have that up sometime tomorrow.
