Cannot easily turn NuGet Package Restore off for solution

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems that once I enable NuGet Package Restore for my solution there is no easy way to disable it. The manual steps to disable Package Restore are a pain, and have been documented on this Stack Overflow post.

There must be an easier way to disable Package Restore than by manually editing all of the project files in a solution. We have over 300 projects in some of our solutions, so I guess I'll be creating a script to automate the process until an easier way is implemented.

Hopefully we've just overlooked something though and there's a nice easy way to turn it off.

No solution? A year later and no comments? This nuget package restore is a giant problem!

Seriously this needs to be looked at. Also a setting in the solution file instead of a general option in Visual Studio options would be better

Yup, even in VS 2013 still a problem.

I have to agree this is a problem. I can't load a solution because of NuGet. Is this meant to be helpful?

Please fix it or get rid of it. Really.

We actually have a blog post about it and at the end of the post a powershell script was mentioned to help with the migration.

Nice, so now all you need to do is add a button to the NuGet UI in Visual Studio that runs that script ;)

Pain and suffering.... I wish more people voted on this; it's the only thing in Visual Studio that I actually loathe. I can fix my stuff locally, but inevitably not every user of the repository is going to affect the change at the same time, so it keeps coming back.
