Nuget 1.5->1.6 Install Issue

Dec 30, 2011 at 6:19 PM

In admin mode I uninstalled Nuget 1.5 from vs, restarted vs in admin mode, installed 1.6, and then restarted vs. Nuget worked for several days.

The next day, the package manager wont come up - it doesnt give me an error, it just wont load. If I try to uninstall it, the uninstall button is greyed out (which I assume means that the addin is in use). If I restart vs, then I can uninstall.

I have tried uninstalling Nuget and reinstalling it several times (no error messages generated)

Trying to load Package Manager Console  and the Package Manager Settings, dont launch anything.

Is there a way to install version 1.5? I've looked for a link but cannot find one.

Is there a log file I can check to see what is wrong?

This has been an extremely frustrating issue for me.

Thanks!

You can cause VS to log details using the /log switch (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241272.aspx).

Earlier releases of the NuGet vsix are available at http://nuget.codeplex.com/releases/view/78874

Could you folks try out some of the suggestions from the response at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-BZ/vssetup/thread/41f50aa4-c855-4214-be6d-4a2edef3c390?

Thank you for the help. I've done all of the things suggested in the post. I found that running Visual Stuido & nuget under another profile works. I'm assuming that means my profile has something corrupt.  Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue. I have even gone so far as to uninstall Visual Studio and reinstall. Problem will not go away. My activity log says the same thing as above: SetSite failed for package [NuGet.Tools.NuGetPackage, NuGet.Tools

This happens when I try to view the Package Manager Console. It always generates the error "package did not load correctly" I am using the latest version of everything (1.6.21...)

I have the same problem too.

I have tested with another users profile and it works fine. What in the profile would be corrupt and how do I fix it?

In my Visual Studio log I have no errors.

I have tried un-installing 1.6... of NuGet (double checking for folder removal) and reinstalling 1.5. Same problems

Trying to create any MVC 3 sites I get 'NuGet Package Manager' is missing. Manage NuGet Packages I get 'package did not load correctly'

I have un-installed all other extensions, reinstalled all add-ins, etc.

I have fixed my problem by deleting a few files.

I did a search across c:\users\<user name>\AppData for 'Nuget'. This brought up about 10 files. Going through all these I was able to deduce what I needed to delete and what I didn't.

I deleted the vsix files, c:\users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Nuget, some mvc log files and that was it.

I'm back in the development world again.

Brilliant!  Thank you! I deleted the 'c:\users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Nuget' directory and that worked for for me as well. Everything appears to be working again.

Finally got it working: had to delete c:\User Data\<user>\AppData\Roaming\NuGet\NuGet.Config  (which was empty) and now it can load.
