Should Recent Packages list include dependencies packages?

Jan 19, 2011 at 5:37 PM

We are adding a Recent Packages tab in the Add Packages Reference dialog to show the most recently installed (MRI - tm) packages. This list is system-wide (per user) and not just limited to the current solution.

Here's the question for you:

Should this list include only the packages directly installed by users OR should it also include those brought in as dependencies?

We're leaning towards the first way but want to give the community a chance to raise your opinion.

Feel free to try it out from our build server and let us know if you have any feedback on how it works. http://ci.nuget.org:8080/repository/download/bt4/1148:id/VisualStudioAddIn/NuGet.Tools.vsix

Note: Daily builds are not fully tested and have been known to cause migraines and vomitting. So be warned.

This seems like a no-brainer to me.  Are there any arguments in favor of including indirect dependencies in the list?
