Exact NuPack casing

Aug 30, 2010 at 8:08 PM

We're about to start renaming things (assemblies, namespaces) to NuPack.  Before we do this, do we all agree that NuPack is the casing we want, as opposed to Nupack?

+1 for NuPack

Ok, settled!

Works for me.

I actually prefer namespaces to be all lower case, but then again I like methods, parameters and variables to_look_like_this.

I work well with whatever conventions for naming that we come up with.

Sorry Fervent, but I'm going to have to pull the Benevolent Dictator card and say we will not name methods, parameters, and variables to_look_like_that. :P

For what it's worth, Framework Design Guidelines would suggest that we use Nupack for the namespaces. Notice that in most cases, you have things like System.Web.Mvc.Html and not System.Web.MVC.HTML.

Using NuPack for the namespace implies it's two words (per the pascal casing convention). So my vote would be Nupack for namespace and assembly names, and NuPack in any user facing documentation, titles, etc.

You should create a fork and update all the code in the meantime Phil :)

Dear Benevolent Dictator,

Two words. SharePoint.

Oh wait. One word. (see Microsoft.SharePoint.*)

Exactly! Two words.

Well, I've been outvoted while gone, so NuPack it is. Especially if you've already done the work. :P

Ha! It was a blissful week of not thinking about code, lawyers, etc.

Can we at least agree that it's all lowercase in URLs. So http://nupack.codeplex.com/ and not http://NuPack.codeplex.com/

Thank you.

Actually, my point was that it's actually one word (SharePoint) but uses PascalCasing. NuPack should do the same. One word, PascalCasing.

  1. Namespaces, class names, documentation (basically anywhere it's mentioned) should be NuPack
  2. Urls should just be lowercase (generally this is my rule for the entire universe as well)

URLs are *always* lowercased.
